If you’ve flown in an airplane, you know the approach is critical to making a smooth landing. If a pilot attempted to land a plane without giving thought to the approach, trouble would certainly follow. Have you ever experienced a troublesome interaction with an employee? with your boss? Part of the problem may have been with your approach. Communications proceed more smoothly and constructively when your approach is positive. To approach a person in a positive manner, be pleasant and gracious. When appropriate, smile sincerely. A smile ranks high among likability factors and helps to put people at ease.
